What's up everybody! It's finally time for the Saturday blog post! And it's also time for another Alumnae Konnection release, so keep a lookout for that!
The Chairman's Award Essay was due this Thursday, so the Admins had their hands (and keyboards) occupied. What's the theme, you ask? It's... cake/bakery! Check back later to see how we incorporate this into our video. Since the bumpers are being made, that means that bumper covers are not far behind. This year, the bumpers were made by Lily for the first time, and they're turning out amazing! Hope everyone is staying healthy during the winter season. Many of the people of the team are sick right now, but we are cruising through our tasks to get everything done. See you next week, Admins
This week marks the release of the first issue of the Sistamatik alumnae newsletter, Alumnae Konnection! We thank all the SistamatiK alumnae who have signed up and waited so patiently for the first issue. (And if you are an alum reading this and you haven't signed up, what are you doing?) They will come out every two weeks, so keep a lookout on January 25th!
In other news, the build team has finished building the wood base for the control panel that they'll be practicing with. Also, the chassis are almost perfected. See you next week, Admins Now that Kickoff day has arrived, we can finally get to work on our robot. The team gathered at Lindenwood University to watch the stream. The excitement was palpable as the timer counted down. When it was time to reveal the game, R2D2 made an appearance and helped the MCs count down. Behind the curtain was THE GAME. The teams hurried back to their schools to plan, but not before grabbing their KOP and checking out the cool VR version of the field. (By the way, if you missed the stream, you can watch it all here.)
After chowing down on some pizza and doughnuts, the team converged for a strategy session. We decided what we want the robot to do and now the only thing left is to design, build, and program it! We've definitely got our work cut out for us. Will we succeed? Guess you'll have to wait and see, or check back here for updates! :D Be sure to check out the SistamatiK Instagram and Snapchat (5583sistamatik) for pictures! May the force be with us all, Admins Hey all!
This meeting we mixed it up and did some team-bonding activities! The first challenge was to see who could stack a set of nuts and screws to build the highest tower. One team built a tower that was 21cm! For the second challenge, the teams were to make a creation out of Legos. Each team member also had a secret mission that they couldn't tell the others. Additionally, they're not allowed to talk to each other during the challenge. After that, Emily gave a run down of tool safety and Natasha got to work on the 3D-printer. Later, Kuriosity got taken out for a spin through the hallway. (Check out our Snapchat for a clip!) That seems to be it for today's meeting! Remember to be on the lookout for new updates. - Admins Hey everyone!
I'm sure you're all just as excited as I am for this upcoming season, but it's still so far away! Don't worry, there are so many things to do pre-season:
- Admins Hello everyone! We Admins have a big announcement to make (you may have noticed it already!)
We are proud to introduce Alumnae Konnection, our bi-weekly (meaning every other week) newsletter made specifically for SistamatiK Alumnae! If you want to receive this newsletter, click here and sign up with the form below. We are so excited for this great opportunity! Admins Thanks to one of our lovely coaches, our snack cabinet (aka Snabinet) has been fully stocked with delicious goodies! These will power our team through the build season. (It will probably be empty by next week.)
Speaking of build, we should check out what's happening over there. The chassis is getting close to being done, and they'll soon be moving on to important stuff like wheels and bumpers. We've got a solid plan on how to pick up the cargo and make sure it's secured. Keep your eyes peeled for SistamatiK tearing it up on the field! Catch you on the flip side, Admins |
