This one is dedicated to my friend Annie Hilker, who I told I would update the blog every meeting but obviously have lied to and betrayed. I hope you'll forgive me, Annie.
A small overview of the room at the present moment: Bianca, our dedicated 3D Printer and CAD Designer, is tirelessly overseeing the printing process that's about as exciting as watching paint dry, maybe a bit less. She's had a few errors, but has smoothed them out now. Thank you, Bianca, dealing with CAD software. You are a far better person than me. On a weirder note, the 3D printer makes unsettling sounds like some demented ice cream truck, and it's freaking me out. Sitting in a circle like some sort of secret witches' gathering is our design team being aided by our lovely Boeing mentor, Christine. They are ironing out the details about our picking-up-the-block-and-stuff mechanism (y'know, that thing). At least that's what they appear to be doing; they may actually be summoning Volde- oops, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or something. Riley and I are working one the ever-changing Chairman's essay. (Yeah, I know. Technically I'm writing this blog post, but I swear I doing something useful before!) The essay has breached the second page! I really hope it stays that way. Stick to it, Riley! Singing off- I mean, signing off (Can you tell who needs some sleep?) Eleanor, Electrical Head and Chairman's Essay Victim

Our admin team has been hard at work! Charlotte INSISTS we need to re-brand and change our a cute, fuzzy animal (preferably a bee). Personally, I think our "brand" is just fine, but if we have to re-brand, our mascot should be the KouGears (since Rosati-Kain's mascot is the Kougar). What do you think? Ridiculous mascot discussions aside, our build team is working hard! In fact, everyone is! Even though an unnecessary amount of time was spent discussing our branding, the admin team continued to make progress on our Chairman's Award essay. We have also made some major changes to our website and will continue to adjust things in order to make it user friendly and appealing. I really enjoy working on the website so I hope whatever changes we make improve your experience!
Stay groovy my dudes! Morgan Oh my, I'm a senior this year! Scary... but I'm ready for another great season. I'm with the Chairman's Award team, Riley and Morgan today. We've got a great topic lined up for our essay! Now we just have to... write it. Hooray, we get to write an essay, soooo excited... Okay, may not be that glamorous, but it's important. It's time to write an essay to be proud of! We've got a solid outline and are currently initiating our rough draft. As you can see: Signing off,
Eleanor, your inside eye on all things SistamatiK SistamatiK headed out to Wydown Middle School to watch the kickoff stream for the FRC 2018 season, FIRST Power Up. After the game was revealed, the gang headed back to RK and the build team started brainstorming design and strategy. On the other side of the spectrum, the admin team got busy discussing the Chairman's Award essay and presentation, as well as community outreach and sponsorship opportunities. Big things to come for SistamatiK! Stay tuned! P.S. Did you know that in our off-season, our alliance won the Gateway Robotics Challenge? For more consistent updates on about SistamatiK, follow our various social media pages! (Check out the "Social Media" tab under "Get Involved") Have a great season! Stay groovy my dudes! Morgan That's it! The build season's over! We can all relax now can't we?
Sorry, kiddo, build season maybe come and gone but that doesn't mean robotics is over. Attendance is a little lax today, but we are still here hard at work. I'm a little out of the loop right now because I came late (too busy getting axed in the gut at play practice), but here's the run down as I see it: Shayla and Annie are working on the winch on our practice robot, the present fraction of the programming team is trying to organize, and Charlotte and Tyler are busying themselves making buttons and stickers respectively. What am I doing you ask? Why, writing this blog post, of course! I've also made some changes to this here webpage. I don't know if any of y'all pay close attention enough to the rest of this website to find the updates I've been making. Let's make it a scavenger hunt. I made three changes. Find them all. Ready? Go! You don't want to? Aw well, you're missing out on a lot of fun! Over and out, Eleanor, Electrical Head
After a long and tiresome journey, the new drive station is finally done. I have to say, it looks pretty good. Its color scheme includes our team colors, gold and black. It took a while to struggle through cutting the beams, screwing the screws onto the beams, making the holes line up, etc. We even found a use for those tiny rubber feet that we got in our starter kit and had no idea what to do with! Thanks to everyone who worked on the drive station, it looks really beautiful! (And kind of like a dinner tray.)
Have fun and stay safe, Charlotte (Not in North Carolina) Time is money now, isn't it? Bag/Stop Build/Whatever-it's-called day is fast approaching, and, boy, is it obvious we need to get a move on!
We got a TON done today. From programming servo motors to assembling our new driver's station, SistamatiK has been busy. I myself have spent the whole day mounting the da- *ahem* lovely control system into our actual robot. It was difficult because our gear-catching mechanism was blocking my hands and vision most of the time. Fortunately, I have non-claustrophobic fingers. Now everything is secure and mostly insulated. I can finish it up next time. I also wired our practice robot's main brain, which was a whole lot easier given there was more space. Cassie, Charlotte, and Ethel assembled the coolest driver's station on the planet. It's gold and black and it looks really good. That's one reason to look forward to competition. Lizzie and her programming brigade, along with our mentor Evan, smoothed out the programming bits and got our servo motors working right. Good on them; I have no idea how those work. For lunch we had an "All-American" potluck. Best part of the day. Most definitely. We even got to sit outside a bit because of the unnatural winter weather. (Is it still February? I sure can't tell.) But we still have so much work to do! Onward, full steam ahead! Smell ya later! (If my sense of smell hasn't been compromised by next time.) Eleanor, Electrical Head Basically spent the whole afternoon designing this guy. I'm calling him Mr. Gear until I come up with a better name for him. My phone camera's pretty bad, and it's kind of dark in here so this picture quality isn't good at all, but you get the idea. Perhaps we'll use in on a button for this year, but we'll have to see. Peace! Eleanor, Electrical Team Head As you may have read in the post before, today we are working on the robot's electrical innards. Then something magic happened, the robot moved! Yippee!
